Ham: Yes, extending [[empathy]] and [[compassion]] towards someone does not require an [[act]]. You can empathize and be [[understanding]] without being involved in trying to create a solution for some [[problem]]. Being [[compassionate]] and doing something out of compassion are two different things. When you extend yourself to another, you are [[vulnerable]] [[emotionally]] and, yes, there are those who manipulate the [[vulnerability]] of others for some end.
