Lesson

Teacher: “Human life is a constant struggle between the material and spiritual impulses. However, these two kinds of impulses don't have to be at odds with each other. The problem is that mortals in this world have created a lot of false needs that distract them from their main goal, which is to attain a higher level of communion with the Celestial Father that inhabits their own heart.

“The basic needs of the human being – without which a normal live could not be possible – can be counted on the fingers of one hand. Michael in his life had very few things and lived the most plentiful life ever in the history of this world. Don't let yourself be fooled by the false needs promoted by the media. All the material things you need to achieve your highest potential in this life you already have. You don't need anything else.

“The problem is that a lot of people in this world can't even satisfy their most basic needs. While a few have more than what they really need, hundreds die every day due to the inability to satisfy their basic needs. But the real price of these unsatisfied needs is that so many people never even consider the spiritual side of life because their physical suffering caused by their unmet needs prevents them from thinking about something else. How could a child think about spiritual progress when he is afraid for his life? How could a mother search for spiritual peace while watching her children die of hunger?

“A life without spiritual growth is a wasted opportunity. It is like not ever really living. Those who take more than what they need and use their resources to control others are creating a heavy load for themselves. They are not only damaging the material life of those who suffer by their policies and their actions, they are also stealing the opportunity of a plentiful life with possibilities of spiritual growth from those they keep marginalized. This is akin to murder.

“Only love will overcome the selfish impulses that rise from time to time in the human heart. You, the one who reads these words, might be one of the few fortunate ones that have more than what you need. Don't forget about your siblings who suffer. There is a lot you can do to improve the life of those around you, starting with finding within yourself the Light of our Father that desires to shine to others through you.”
