Opening

Prayer: Thank you, Heavenly Father and Blessed Mother, for bringing us into existence and helping us bring about this format whereby we may consciously contact You and Your myriad heavenly helpers and so keep us on track with our own spiritual program and a part of the Divine Family of which we are a grateful part. Let us have a moment with our teachers this evening that we might expand further on the Divine Nature and what It has in store for us. Thank you Divine Parents, and thank you, Michael, for being in this with us. Amen

TOMAS: Good evening, everyone. My name is Tomas; I am a teacher in the Teacher Corps. Many of you know me from years of accommodating the Teaching Mission and I am always glad to be in your midst to find those moments, those opportunities, to come back to inveigle my way into your midst and into your hearts that we may there find camaraderie and even communion in the spirit for this is where we bond, where we meet, where we are at One.

I am accompanied this evening by other teachers, as you might imagine. As you well know, we are a force. In fact, we are a force to be reckoned with. Even though we are not visible to human eyes, we are very apparent to those who have eyes to see, and those who look for us will not be disappointed. We also are available to those who have an ear to hear, for even though you may not hear us with your literal physical ear, there are ways in which divine messages and concepts are delivered to you, that you who listen will hear with clarity, fidelity and assurance, such that you will not question the veracity of our words.

Lesson

I have observed through the many students I work with, the many mortals I regard as my flock, the cyclonic times in which you life, and daresay I take some pride in how well you handle things. I don’t mean the things that impact you personally and immediately but those things that surround you over which you have little or no control. I say this because when I first met you some 20 years ago, it was virtually impossible for you to distinguish the difference between your chaos and the chaos of others; it was simply all chaos. But having indoctrinated you into the practice of Stillness, and having sighed a sigh of relief that you “got it,” you are now able to discern what’s yours to deal with and what is not.

This is directly to the principle of being the calm in the eye of a hurricane. When the winds and gales of life’s experience carry on all around you, are turbulent and up-torn, you can indeed stand by and have peace in your heart. You may even be of service to those who are uprooted and overturned by the chaos in which they find themselves, and perhaps help them find their own anchor in spirit reality.

The more of you who are able to anchor yourself in this kind of tranquility, the less foment we will encounter, and that includes physical turbulence such as you are witnessing in the storms that prevail, the hurricanes, the torrents, the earthquakes and so forth, all manifestations of a young planet and, yes, in this case, somewhat exacerbated by your propensity to alter the atmosphere through science (that is to say pollution) and engineering and those ways that throw mother nature off course. I will not dwell on that, however, for Mother Nature has her own ways and we cannot blame humanity for the natural course of things.

What we can do, however, is be calm in the face of these disasters and be wise enough to prepare for them or avoid them and this will happen as the years go by and you as a race begin to have a better perspective on your existence here, and the existence of your progeny. Eventually you may say, “Why build on this sand dune that must be rebuilt every generation? Why not build on solid ground and save us all the effort?” Life is filled with these kinds of anecdotes.

You might recognize the one from the Urantia Papers about the bird’s nest. It is not necessary to have a bird’s nest with which to start a fire; kindling can be found in dry leaves and twigs as well as bird’s nests. But these kinds of lessons must come through time and contemplation. Even now your lessons are coming over time and through contemplation. It seems that some of you are catching on quicker than others but, in truth, you have been holding yourself in abeyance for a long time for the pieces to fall in line, such that one action sparks another action and, like dominoes, each is affected by the other until the entire playing field has been modified.

Also, in your Book, you have the italicized word regarding sudden changes. To you suddenly means immediately or at once. In a cosmic sense, suddenly might cover a span of 25 or even 25,000 years because our perspective is different; our appreciation of time is eternal, not finite, such as yours.

Why am I talking about this? I am talking about this to help you appreciate the long-range view. The long range view comes through experience, over time. You can see this even in your own life, such as children who look forward to Christmas. It seems Christmas will not be here for a long, long time and then as it approaches the days are counted and it seems forever until Christmas morning arrives. And when Christmas is over, it is a sad thought that they must wait a full year for Christmas to come around again, as compared to the grandparents who feel it was just Christmas last week and here it is again already, and so the perspective changes as you perceive time.

In appreciating this about time, you might also see the value of patience when it comes to those who are so fired up, energetic, adamant, and unyielding about what they feel must be done, about who they feel must be elected, about what constitutional amendment must be enacted, or about what fines must be imposed, as these represent that which is meaningful to them and their neighbors or their constituents at this time. And so why do the heathen rage? Why do the politicians roar? Why do the orators speak? Why do the preachers preach and the teachers teach? Because they have something they feel compelled to say and do within the framework of their life, their time. They must do it now; they must do it within their lifetime, during their productive years, while they can, before their opportunities pass.

We see this rise and fall of mortal drive, take it in stride, observe those who are able to catch the wave and ride it, as well as those who crash, as well as those who sit on the beach and observe. It takes all kinds. There is room for all kinds. It is how you deal with them that will make the difference as to whether you are happy and or effective. As to how well you are able to gather friends and associates and become a social bloc, a cultural group, one which has power and influence, one which can represent meaning and values.

Having to stop progress to put out fires, to build eddies, to clean up after floods and fires, is a burden to humanity, yes, but it is also an opportunity to work together. It is an opportunity to see how fragile you are here on this mortal plane, how heroic you can be in quiet simple ways, how many ways you can serve your friends and neighbors, even strangers. It’s an ideal arena in which to discern for yourself where you would serve and where you would best be out of the picture -- where you don’t belong.

There are many things on-going on this plane that seem to cry for your attention and demand your energy, your focus, your finances, and the truth is, you are better off without investing yourself in many things that may well be important to others but have nothing to do with your faith path.

Many times we hear people say, “I don’t know why I was in that experience, but God must have had a reason for me to be there.” This is foolishness. You are there as a result of your own decisions. If there are lessons to be learned, you will find out what they are, and one of those options may be you shouldn’t have been there in the first place. I am meaning to say here that you need to assume some responsibility for your own actions. You can no longer—or, no more blame god for your behaviors than you can blame the devil.

You have heard the phrase, “To thine own self be true.” This will mean ascertaining for yourself, in yourself, of yourself, in consultation with yourself and your own Divine Guidance, what can you do, what should you do, what must not you do, or think or say or be. And learn from your own actions, taking responsibility for your own choices, learning from your own experiences. And in this way you will have earned your passage through the psychic circles. You will have gained self-mastery. You will have clear vision as to how to proceed and when, and when to be still and wait.

But I grant you it is difficult to have that kind of self-containment, to be that self-possessed when you are surrounded by chaos and pressure and noise. It is on you to see to it that you find that place within yourself where you can find clarity, fidelity, and stillness. Peace be upon you.

Are there questions, this evening? [Pause] The device requires you to press star six [*6] to get through the circuit. [Pause] Under the circumstances, hearing nothing, knowing George is here on-line, perhaps George would like to give Frank or another entity an opportunity to greet you and speak to you from the morontia realm. I await your choice on that as well.

TEACHER FRANK: Hello my friends. This is Frank. For those of you who may not know, I am the personal teacher for my friend here and I will never resist an opportunity to address light line folks like yourself who are always seeking for clarity, where all aspire to progress. I bring you greetings first and foremost and congratulate all those who are here and aspiring to be expanded.

At a time like this when humanity is supposed to be enlightened and supposed to be aspiring for self expansion, often times it brings disasters as the east coast of North American is experiencing to bring out that brotherly affection. One wonders at times from our viewpoint why it takes such extreme circumstances for humanity to shine through, but such are the state of affairs on your planet. And even though a lot of people are grieving and even are upset about these things, as some of you well know, these are the repercussions of human activity, unwise choices over the years. It will take continual disasters like these for humanity to change their course of action.

There are many people on this planet who believe that [indistinguishable] cause disasters of this sort, but [indistinguishable] in this group to be the case, notwithstanding the disasters currently are an opportunity because we will know that it is at this time that the compassion of the human soul comes to the fore. So we do use these circumstances to give lessons, give new ideas, but to think it is lesser divine beings, or that a divine being would persecute humanity in such a way, beloved friends, please educate those who you here would be far from the reality we find ourselves in.

Take heart that your spiritual destiny is secured. We cannot guarantee your physical safety at all times; what we guarantee is your spiritual safety, that your soul is to be on the mansion worlds.

Try, as much as you can, to encourage those who are suffering, those who have lost so many possessions. Try to encourage them as much as you can. I hope these words do not catch you by surprise. Thank you.

TOMAS: Thank you Frank, and George. It seems the focus of attention is on the hurricane Sandy, and while it is certainly a dramatic example of things that go awry in the material worlds, like the Haiti tsunami, the Japanese earthquake, and the hurricane in Louisiana, there are other events and occurrences that also cause chaos. Business related disasters -- like major layoffs, massive unemployment, and corporate bankruptcies; like flu and other contagious illnesses -- that wreak havoc on the mortal races. These too create chaos within the psyche.

And while they must be dealt with, while they must all be ironed out somehow, it is still and also true that they can be dealt with better if you come to them from the stillness, from a point of relationship with divinity so that you are not coming in with your negative emotions choking you and blinding you to the path that you need to follow in order to be effective.

This prayerful state, this self-containment, this representation of divine affection will go so far and do so much to helping others feel calm. Just seeing one or two people in control will remind them that there is order to be found, and they will respond accordingly. They will find it within themselves, for you will have inspired them simply by being yourself.

Just as love is more contagious than hate, so is order more contagious than chaos. The immature may like confusion as an amusement, but at the end of the day, they want to go home to where it is safe, where they will be fed and comforted. And if you can represent that which is what they need at the end of the day, then you will be serving for those On High.

Once again, let me ask if there are questions from the students.

Dialogue

James: I don’t really have a question, Tomas, but I feel compelled to speak to you. I would just like to thank you very much for the lesson tonight. It’s very relevant to me in my life. And for me, going through life … I understand that the commonality is that God is my spiritual path, but I’ve had the opportunity to take responsibility for my actions and my choices all my life, which I feel is a great privilege to be a co-creator, and in this I distinguished it a different way, but what you said tied it in and I want to thank you for that.

TOMAS: Well, you know I am happy to be of service. The teacher appreciates the apple given in appreciation for what they have been given, and I am glad to have given you something to take with you. It pleases me. But you are the diligent student. You are the one who has applied your mind; you have girded up the loins of your mind to be of better service, to connect the dots, as it were, to pull the threads together into a true fabric, one which you can use. I am glad of it. In the end, this is the best way for you can say, I had guidance, yes, I had teachers, yes, but in the end I worked it out. With God, I worked it out, and that is how it should be.

James: Thank you, Tomas.

TOMAS: Great phrase that: “co-creative.” God and man need each other. Thank you, James.

Closing

I will let you go, then for the evening. You have been very attentive, small but attentive, and I do hope you will come again, that we might delve into those realms of consciousness that spring forth new ideas and inspirations from which to weave our way into the future for us and those we serve.

Amen and farewell.
