Anastasia is the name of a young woman who was found living in the forests of Siberia in 1995 to parents who both died in a forest accident shortly after her birth and was raised by her grandfather, great grandfather and a variety of "wild" animals. It was Vladimir Megré, a Siberian trader who found her in 1995 while seeking the location of "ringing cedar trees" to which Anastasia led him. The Ringing Cedar Series of books is a result of their meeting.
