Jump to navigationJump to searchThe functions of an Editor are manifest in the close relation to Education, L. edu-care, to lead forth from within. However, where education entails a discretely personal i.e. spiritual process, the function of 'editing' enjoins this spiritual dimension to the material through the unique versatility of mind in acts of identification, development, and production for the benefit of the world, that greater public whose state of mind is the real 'constitution' of advancing citizens representing a genuine re-public.
From Latin editionem - nominative; editio ‘a bringing forth, producing’, from stem of edere, ‘bring forth, produce’, from ex-, ‘out’ + -dere, combining form of dare, ‘to give’.[1]
