When the cosmic background radiation of the entire sky was surveyed in 1977, the radiation was shifted toward the red end of the spectrum on one side of the sky, and toward the blue end in the other. The entire Milky Way was "streaming" across the sky in a motion not related to the expansion of the Universe at a rate of 700 Kilometers per second.
