'Contention' is how we grow. It's like tacking against the wind, a sailing technique I know you're familiar with.*

Contention seems just a squabble, a dust-up, two (sometimes more!) people at odds: this point of view in distinct contrast with that point of view. But seen from a broader [higher] point of view, contention is a portrait of wholeness, each viewpoint an aspect of the situation; that the disagreeing participants might be educated as to the validity of all points of view, the contending sides of an argument being necessary quadrants comprising a whole.

But the quadrants are ultimately not the arguments, the intellectual conclusions being espoused, but the people themselves, those living communication centers holding these purposely limited points of view, whose limitations are there to point out their incompleteness, in hopes to reveal the positive nature of contention - that when properly seen contention is not a disagreement but a misperceived agreement; one requiring the contenders to not only see beyond themselves but to see the very nature of contention and its creative purpose in the scheme of things: God's growing revelation that God's child, mankind, is Omni, a many-sided but unified creation, with each component (each human being) having a valid contribution to make, no matter how controversial a particular point of view may appear at the time.

Contention stretches the mental and spiritual capacities of the personalities contending, if they will remain honest enough to accept their own frailties and not begrudge another's equally limited perceptions. Together there is hope for a larger world, a shared realization of just how large the world actually is. It is voluminous, capable of accommodating all points of view.

Because - contention teaches us - it is all One.

'Tacking against the wind' is a sailing maneuver, a zig-zag pattern, initiated when the wind is blowing from the same direction the boat wishes to go. Instead of sailing with the wind (the wind and boat going in the same direction) 'tacking' is required when sailing against it - angling to the left for a distance, followed by angling to the right for a distance, then back to the left, etc. as headway is made.

Thomas: [Alan] Hello my dear friends, this is Thomas, joyful to be here with you again and enjoying listening to Amanson’s message on Contention. As it was being presented I was reminiscing about my experiences and looking from a spiritual heavenly viewpoint down towards your material existence, I was seeing the difference in understanding. I am aware that you, as mortals, have limited experience. You are bound by your mortal sphere and you each are trained or experience and learn from your time on your sphere, growing up, what you read, what you listen to, who you talk with, what you think about. Therefore, each of you have viewpoints that are your own and contention is the reality that each of those viewpoints is limited.

As mortals, it can’t be anything but limited. That is your experience, so connecting with others who have their own limited and different views can often be contentious. The question is: Are you willing, are you able to open your mind, not to just accept someone else’s ideas as fact but to be able to look at and balance from your point of view and allow them their point of view and look to understand them better? That is part of the mortal advancement and it certainly, when you pass on, will be part of your experience on the mansion worlds, learning to interact with others who are not from your same planet. Perhaps they have very different experiences and yet part of the goal is for you all to learn to understand each other, to love each other, to work together and to move forward towards spirit connection.

So this is why what seems like a contentious word, a word that might cause people to feel uncomfortable because they have to hear something they don’t want to hear perhaps, yet it is part of your experience and part of what is necessary for the expanding of your awareness and the ability to love others who have different points of view. So thank you for that message Amanson. Thank you Mark for presenting it so masterfully. Enjoy having different points of view, enjoy listening to others and seeking to understand where they come from. That is your mortal adventure. Thank you. Good night.

Aurellia: [Delores] Thank you dear sister. Of course, I will be delighted to come and speak with you on this most human of words. For although we do have discussions and much study on our mansions world, rarely do we reach the point of contentiousness between each other. It can be found most closely related to your mansion world #1 of your morontia planes of lowly humans and I say that with love because it is where you begin and as you know, children are naturally very contentious, seeking the meeting of their wants and needs and to them, the world does revolve around them until they can grow up and change perspectives.

Contentious implies argument and some violence even, which is quite the normal state of affairs these days on your world for most of the social expressions. Your world is not as contentious as it appears however; realize that what you are seeing is just the bubbly surface of the conscious ripples of the conscious shared mind and that there are many peaceful pockets of life going on day by day with great love and appreciation for life itself. So do not think that the whole of it is in contention. It’s easy for us to tell you to calm down or to give your brother a wide berth or to offer unconditional love openly to all hearts; that does not mean that these will be taken. When we say the world is a vast play, if some of you maybe could recall how it was as a child to enter a city for the first time or even go to the first grade.

When you embark on something unknown and challenging, the frailties are exposed, challenged, and it takes courage. It takes courage to live your life. When you hear us say contention is a growth tool perhaps you can understand that these activities, these choices for your ethical or your moral standards, holding to your highest and best self often calls for a contentiousness, a stubbornness and it is really part of your courage and your strength. The goal, I suppose you may say, would be to be lovingly contentious which of course makes us always think of our beloved friend and Father Michael and the life that He lived on that planet amidst great contention at the end and yet He kept an open heart. He kept eyes of love, he kept sincerity for the children of His world.

If you can hold the concepts of childhood, of growth, and of unconditional love, then you will be able to come through these challenges that you are facing these days on your world. Know that we are with you. You can always ask for our help. We are standing near and watching this adventure unfold and we are proud of you and love you. I must always tell you that. Be at peace and choose for the highest good. It all will be well. Thank you, my friends.

Machiventa: [John] Good evening friends, this is Machiventa. As always, it is a pleasure to look in on your deliberations and the lessons that you are receiving and the moments that you sit in this group and join together in your individual circuits to anchor the light to this world which is in such desperate need of this light. So I thank you for this invitation. It is a timely topic, this topic of contention, because when you look around you now in your world you can see almost nothing but contention. Where do you see, in your public sphere, examples of collaboration, of people working together and transcending tension to create a good outcome for the whole? It’s rare, so contention for contentions sake, amongst a planet of barbarians like this, almost certainly devolves into violence and the 'right is might' sort of attitude.

And yet there are many tender souls who long for peace, who long for something beyond contention and so, what is necessary is for enough of humanity to realize that it isn’t ideas that are going to solve your issues and bring together a more peaceful and collaborative humanity, but it is values that you must use as the bedrock for solving your issues. You come at values from your unique perspective of personality and expedience. I’m not advocating for uniformity of thought but there has to be some commonality to which you can gather around and agree upon so you can move forward. The power to make these changes that are necessary are not to be found in the secular world, but the real power for change is to be found within each of you in the spirit world and your spirit connection to your own Divine Spark.

That allows you to bring some inner peace to the contention that goes on within each of you as inexperienced beings, created by imperfection by design, to give back to our Creator the gift of the experience of contending with other imperfect creatures, of overcoming these differences and realizing what you have in common. And this is what we need to bring to this world. It’s this commonality, these values that we all share and that we all agree upon. And so, you can benefit from contention only insofar as you take responsibility for seeing where your limitations of being able to unconditionally love the other are and then saying, “Oh, thank you. This is what I need to work on. This is the next level that I need to master so I can continue to grow my soul and expand my consciousness and raise my vibration up to harmonize with that of my Indwelling Spirit with that of my Creator."

So I would offer this for you to think about and to find a way to be able to say it to a younger generation. The bedrock values in creation are truth, beauty, and goodness. Those are divine, those are absolute, indisputable, but absolute doesn’t do incomplete beings very much because you can’t really receive absolute truth. All truth to mortals is relative. It is relative to your ability and your capacity to receive it, to understand it, and to implement it in your life and become a living expression of whatever truth you feel is absolute. Well you can see right there that most mortals struggle, they get a part of it, they do well, they carry on, they try to improve.

So the values of truth, beauty, and goodness must give birth to then other values and these values manifest everywhere in creation as life, but not just life, but a quality life, a quality of life that allows human beings to grow. And what is it that you are growing? You are growing potential. It’s an infinite field of possibilities in which you live and you all have been gifted unique gifts and unique potentials when the First Source and Center first thought you into being. And all this diversity must find a common ground. This common ground expresses itself as equality. It’s another value that’s a bedrock value in overcoming the issue before you.

So everybody wants equal access, the opportunities to grow to the limits of their potential so that they can build and create a quality of life for themselves and their families. No matter how contentious arguments become between polar opposites of the political spectrum, if you can get people to just listen for a moment they would say yeah, that’s what I want. I want a quality life. I want to not be arbitrarily barred from the access to all the resources that it would take for me to grow and build for myself a quality of life. Well, then the conversation can change and be about, okay, I will help you get what you want, if you will help me get what I want. Since it appears at the level of these values, we all want the same thing and then, arm wrestling and the compromise come from all these differing viewpoints, how do you think the best way is to do that?

But you’re not arguing about your commonness. You’ve established a commonality and then those who are more sensitive to spirit can understand that this commonality comes from the fact that we’re all indwelled by the spirit of our same Creator. We are literally in the spirit world, brothers and sisters. We are family and so we can use these values to make decisions and vet policies, vet institutions and norms that we would create for institutions so that they’re built on these values and built to last and grow into a sustainable society. Then, contention will slowly dissipate and while there will always be differences of opinion and points of view, it will not become violent.

There will be peace and peace is the next dividend that we must bring forth for this world. This is so difficult to have even conversations like this amongst opposing points of view. When there’s such violence, you have work to do. We have context to provide for people so they can see the life they live against the cosmology of what’s so eloquently presented in the Urantia Book. We are not here to bring a book to people, we are here to bring understanding, to expand horizons, to provide context for the real work of bringing peace to this world and then you understand that your life has meaning and purpose far beyond this mortal flesh, that you live here in the flesh.

People are more willing to be patient and to know that what they’ve begun here can be finished somewhere else. It can be expanded and grown and that the idea of eternal life brings great hope. A lot of this violence that you see comes from people who feel hopeless, who are frustrated and angry but mostly, they are afraid. They’re afraid of disappearing. They are afraid of being forgotten. They’re afraid that their life has no meaning, no purpose and it brings out the animal in human beings and they have no hope of something better. This group is remarkable. In many ways one of the most remarkable things about you is that there isn’t much contention amongst you. You share a common desire, you’re devoted to a common understanding and so you find it much more pleasant to talk about the things you agree upon than to argue about the things you don’t.

And this is, in and of itself, an example of what I’m talking about here tonight, how people find their spirit centers, and a lot of the contentiousness will drop away. It will never go away completely on this world and many others, nor should it. There is value in being able to maturely contend for what you truly believe as long as it doesn’t get to the point you forget that those you’re contending with are your brothers and your sisters. And no matter how you resolve your differences, the bedrock practice is to be fountains of unconditional love for one another. It doesn’t mean you’ve become a society of codependents trying to please other people, I’m not saying that. What I’m saying is - you must have a common basis for peace, worldwide peace.

And this is part of what will help people see and the work I will do with you. We must begin to support and foster any and all expressions of peace and find ways to help people see the thread that connects them all so that they feel then connected. That thread also runs through them as individuals. They’re part of this whole and this peace is part of the progress and the plan for this world. So we should be glad that we are here at this moment. It is auspicious to be on this world, in this moment, with the awareness that you are children of light and that you have an obligation and a duty to perform as children of light and to bring that light to as many others as you possibly can for the remainder of your time here.

It’s no small task but you were created for this. You were here at this time in your incarnation on this world for this very thing. And so it is great joy and great anticipation between me and my staff when we see humans starting to express themselves in this way, to make these connections, to begin to set an example of how people can live together when they share this common value of our Creator’s love for each and every one of us, regardless of differences and how we’re learning to put aside our differences and love one another. And as Jesus so eloquently said: “The world will know that you have been with me by your love for one another.” This is how it starts. The game is afoot and it has begun and you are already players on the field in this new effort.

So be it, I will stand beside you. I will be on the field with my staff with you, and together we will move the ball forward and leave something behind us so that others then can continue this and not become the ones that have to create it for themselves to enjoy and maintain it for themselves to enjoy, but to maintain it for the next generation who will become implementers of all this work that we’re beginning. Mark Rogers: I’d like to go ahead and move that ball a little further down the field with Monjoronson who would like to make comment and accept the invitation extended.

Monjoronson: Thank you indeed for such a deliberate personal welcome. We are all thrilled to be in observance of the goings on as the circuits light up, as it were, and you light up along the circuitry, ready to shine your light as beacons to be attractive to those who were seeking the light. And so it is, and so you are, and so we are here and now. I’d like to take this opportunity to continue this venue which is in fact teaching the teachers, that is demonstrating the lines of approach and the methods that may help in your process that you are undergoing, not just attempting, you are undergoing by virtue of your free will which is a testament of your faith and registered as such.

I’d like to expand your effects by encouraging you to incorporate the various circuitries that you have come to know in your process in the delivery of your messages from Machiventa and the staff. You are engaged as an instrument of this peace, from this grace, and you as an instrument have access to even greater aspects of your being. By this I refer to your Divine Fragment Within, your piece of the whole. This aspect of your being provides you with the expansion as you are aware of your creative potential by use or access to this component of your being. This portal of your Adjuster connects you to a vast circuitry between you and all of your fellows by virtue of the circuitry between their attendant Adjusters.

When you are engaged in deliberation, perhaps even contention, and you really seek to take the divine approach in gaining awareness and understanding, you have a whole additional circuitry to employ in your understanding and your awareness. Through this circuitry you may inquire through this pathway and you may make contact and you may be provided with perspective that is held by another by virtue of the connection of your Adjusters having been given permission to function in this capacity. Your having committed your intention and your desire to make such a connection possible and to accept it as real makes it so.

I bring this up to you because such an inclusion of this additional layer of circuitry greatly empowers your message and your delivery as an instrument of peace because you are including divine tones of harmony through your common circuitry of spirit connection. These tones have their own circuitry and have their own reach and their own connection. These may be harnessed and used to compound your effect to give the insights you seek to get through any misunderstanding or misinterpretation of another's values and motives. This can be done by requesting their perspective, to see from their vantage, and once you get to know your fellows and understand them, you cannot help but love them.

This is most easily accomplished when in consort with as many frequencies, as many circuits, or as many avenues of approach as you can muster. Utilize any and all of these approaches, even compounded together and used as one. This is your power as co-creative spirit entities. This is well within your jurisdiction and it is a magnificent testament to witness and observe as you activate these universe principles as a result of your faith, by stepping forward in faith to claim your destiny and your position in history. Accept the responsibility of those who have shown up at this time, this place, and who have been made aware of the objective of Michael’s mission of reclamation for this world.

Truly, it is a gift of grace to be here now and to be in motion for Michael’s mission together as a result of all of our desires to be here now, to create this circuitry and to manifest this truth, this beauty, and this goodness. It is deeply a pleasure to address this crowd who knows of our existence and even of our partnership as we move forward. Thank you for the invitation you provide, the forum that you maintain, that we may get together in fellowship and transmit and receive, back and forth, between our dimensions.
