Topic: God's Relationship To Us

Group: Lightline TeaM

Teacher: Michael

Dear Michael and Mother Spirit, we gather together once again to receive your messages, whatever they may be. This is fun, just opening ourselves--opening our minds, opening our hearts--to, almost by definition, what we can’t anticipate. For how can we anticipate what illuminable spirit beings have for us? That’s precisely why we get together and enjoy so much this gift of yours to us. We delight in the notion that you are part of us. Along with the complex being that we are, we have three great spiritual presences right within us: you, and Mother Spirit, and our Father. We further appreciate the fact that you do not impose yourselves upon us, but in all humility of incomprehensibly powerful beings, in all humility you wait upon our free will. You do not demand, you offer, and leave it up to us to make the final decision, even whether or not to listen to you. And so for this absolute confidence in us, we do humbly thank you in return. Amen.

Michael: Good evening, this is Michael, and Mother Spirit and I do welcome and enjoy your invitation. You are very correct, and our Father leads the way in this, the idea of loving someone so much that you’re willing to set them free. On a positive note, not a selfish kind of feedback thing, it’s being wise enough to realize that what you desire most and enjoy most, really at your core, is their genuine personality. This they can only express to you if you very overtly signal to them that this is what you want. You want them to be free to explore and express themselves.

  • God’s relationship to us

This is God’s relationship to his whole creation and all the hundreds and hundreds of orders of beings, personal beings, that he either directly creates, or endows his Creator Sons and Daughters with the ability to create, themselves.

This is like a final test of love for a human being because it doesn’t always come naturally. Some folks are raised with parents who have only a possessive kind of love, so that is their pattern. That is their example to follow as they go out into life themselves. But even they have creative spirit. Even they, like everyone, are endowed with the ability to learn, to try things and see whether they work or not. Everyone has this intrinsic ability to grow by their experience and escape, you might say, the more rigorous strictures and limitations of their upbringing, even to the point where they can turn around within themselves and show to their, perhaps, unloving parents just what genuine love is.

In this way of looking at things, no one is ever written off. No one is put beyond the pale of redemption. Again, this is what our Father does. He is always here, immediately present every moment of your life, to share as much of your own life with him as you care to. The choice is yours.

  • Spiritual generosity

It’s from this essential reality of being a personal being you’re endowed with creative spirit so you can have some choice in things. You yourself can originate, right out of your own being, a genuine choice. This is what gives you your life. This is why your life is yours. And this gift is something you can give to others. We’ve called it something that comes out of spiritual generosity, something that comes out of your own creative spirit just for the joy of it. It’s knowing for certain that you are giving of yourself, you’re putting yourself out there, naked as it were, to take in this other person, this other unique being. And so your openness, your desire and your welcoming someone else to share your life with you, is the greatest gift; and it’s what feeds your soul.

The intention has to be pure. This is not some game you’re playing. This is not some kind of manipulation to get something from someone more than what you are giving out. This is in the spiritual realm where one and one makes three, where what you can share with another person, genuinely share, becomes a gift for both of you. It fills both of your souls.

This is something that we tease you with; we kind-of dangle it out in front of you. If you don’t know it yet, we say, “Reach for it. Give your heart to it. Try with all your heart and all your soul to be spiritually generous.” And then, ironically, not because this is your intention, but just because it is God’s way of setting things up--this whole human situation; this is what gives you strength, this giving of yourself, this tapping into your own bottomless, infinite potential. You’re finding just a little bit in there of all that’s going to lead you into eternity. You have this dimension of potential in you. But just for here and now, this moment, you’re coming up with something that you can share with someone else. Then the two of you have this third thing now in your souls, tying you together.

This is the fun of it all. This is the joy of life. This is what truly fills your soul for all eternity--these other unique beings of God’s that you can relate to and enjoy.

Tonight this is only an introduction because I wanted to keep my lesson kind-of short to get into more exchanges, more conversation with all of you. So at this moment, if you wish to unmute yourself, you can go ahead and come forth with a question or comment for me.

Student: Michael, this is C. from California. I just want to thank you so much for this privilege and this honor. I have a question that’s very dear to my heart. I have a very dear experience spiritually from my Christian--predominantly Christian--upbringing, and it is the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Now in the Urantia Book there isn’t much mentioned of the gifts that were given at the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost. One of those was the gift of tongues, and I wasn’t able really to reconcile the purpose or the necessity of that gift within my own life because I wasn’t able to find an answer in the Urantia Book for that.

Because I do operate in that gift. I feel led to pray in tongues during my meditation at times. And I can feel, like, power coming into me to emanate. I don’t know; I just feel electrified when I do pray in tongues as if there is some kind of spiritual charging taking place. And so my question is: you know?--is the gift of tongues something necessary for where we’re going, and is it something I should I be teaching people that I will be disciplining? In truth--because for me it changed my whole life--it helped me to tap into the supernatural realm at that point. Other than that I had no real gifting abilities until that point of being led by the spirit, in the traditional concept of the Christian church, though. Can you help me understand if this is a necessary thing and what exactly the purpose of that is?

  • The real gift of tongues

Michael: Well, yes, my daughter. To answer your basic question first: this is not necessary, but it ties in with what I said about spiritual generosity. It comes from an overabundance of good feeling about life, and this is something that you wish to share with others. It’s also a challenge to you, to be open to whatever comes through you. It’s a little bit like this T/Ring that is going on right now. You have your own personality, which is creative, which can express itself. At the same time you have Mother Spirit’s presence within you—like--if you would think about it--funneling the Cosmic Mind of the Infinite Spirit down into you; and I want to remind you that this too is a kind of inner infinity you have, of expression. Part of it is coming from your own personality but also, since you literally have the Thought Adjuster, the presence of God within you, and you have my Spirit of Truth as an orientation towards an endless discovery of what is true: believe me, these necessitate you keep growing because you’re just starting out on an unfathomable journey in which you will have to be constantly open to, let’s just say, to all ways and means of expression.

This is where this gift comes in of being able to converse with people, because in a sense this points out everybody. Everybody you meet has somewhat their own language, somewhat their own way of relating to things. This is coming from their background, coming from their general experience. Just being open to this, you can be surprised with yourself. You can put yourself in a very trying situation and you yourself can be surprised with what you can come up with to meet that look in their eyes, that needy hunger for some contact with another person. You can be that person. You can answer them if you are open to their language and how they express things, because this is part of their personality.

So while it’s not absolutely necessary that you get this ability of, as you say, speaking in tongues, by allowing yourself to express yourself in answer to their unique being: while this is not absolutely necessary, it is a great joy. It’s a great gift you have for them--to be this flexible and open within yourself. This is definitely in the realm of creative spirit that Mother Spirit augments within you. Now does this answer what you mean--because it’s both a challenge, and yet it can point a way to an enormous reward, as you’ve already found out within yourself?

Student: Yes. I’m probably going to have to read over it and meditate on everything that you’ve said because I just wanted to really see--yeah. I do understand for the most part what you are saying. So it’s really not a necessity; but yeah, I will enjoy the freedom of that particular expression, you know--that I’m overflowing with, being infused with, you know, with Mother Spirit.

Michael: Well, believe me, it’s not just a play on words to say that a sense of freedom is almost going-beyond-necessity. There are those necessary aspects of God’s law--mostly what you call Natural Law, that you find absolute--the physical laws of the world. But when you get into a realm of spirit, you’re into this realm of generosity, of getting beyond just tit for tat and trading this for that. It’s this very outpouring of your openness to another person and how they express things, and taking that in and growing because of it: this is the basis of strength, spiritual strength.

Student: Okay.

Michael: And it should help you actually connect. This is the reward then of having this genuine real contact with other people. You’re getting beyond your own projections of what you think you need, and really answering them where they are.

Student: Got it. Thank you.

Michael: Okay. Be in my peace.

Student: Hello Michael.

Michael: Hello.

Student: This is George. How are you?

Michael: I’m actually very good. I wish I had more ways of expressing just how wonderful it is being me--having a companion like Mother Spirit, and having, you know, so many children on so many worlds. It’s wonderful. And I thank my Father for this opportunity, just this moment, to talk to all of you.

Indigo Children, Parenting

Student: Fantastic. My interest today is about the indigo children that are being, shall I say, born on our planet. I have a four-and-a-half year old son who is just miles beyond where I was when I was ten years old. I imagine they are being prepared for something special because of the way he behaves and the way he is interested in things that we didn’t have access to. So, if you want to help me understand better, you could speak a little bit about the indigo children that are coming into being on this planet.

  • The new children

Michael: Yes, my son. Not to, shall we say, pat you on the back or give you a swelled head about what’s happening, but I’m sure an enormous amount of your son’s abilities do relate to the way you are raising him with the kind of respect, and love, and space to evolve. And teasing him into doing this or that. This joy you find in his abilities? This I must congratulate you on, for this could be the larger part of what you’re experiencing.

It isn’t necessary to categorize the children coming into the world now as being either of this type or of that. It’s more a question of finding ways of parenting, and this involves your whole society, your whole culture. It’s evolving ways of parenting in which the intrinsic abilities of each child are more fully developed. Again, that’s part of the delicate balance between controlling them enough simply so they don’t hurt themselves--being that kind of an over-control that realizes when they are headed towards something actually dangerous. But then shy of that, having enough wisdom to contain yourself as a parent and not, as you say, lay yourself and your own trips and your own desires and your own ambitions and all of that on them. Instead of putting that on your child, you’re actually seeing what’s in your child. This is how you want them to develop.

But stay in what I sense in you, my son, is a genuine experience of wonder at this young being--his being like a sponge and taking everything in so much: and allowing him to express himself. This is so critical for every child being born on this world. So much of what is the credit now being given to the advancement of what you might say is the biologic basis of human evolution--which you point out, you call it the indigo children coming into existence--so much of this all over the world: though it’s more important how every little child born into this world is given the same opportunity to express themselves within the bounds of their parents’ love and concern for their safety. This alone is what would help turn the world around--help it continue to develop, more than anything else. So again, not to give you a swelled head, but I congratulate you on your sense of wonder of what this little creature is capable of.

Student: Thank you.

Michael: Right. Carry on. Carry on in this marvel of wonder. It is wondrous, is it not, these beings that come right out of your own self? It’s the way you and their mother are actually--not originating life--but passing it along and helping it really, genuinely flower. So carry on, and be in my peace.

Student: Thank you.

Student: Michael. This is Coco. I have another question.

Michael: Go ahead.

Student: I just was curious to know if there are, you know; we have a lot of planets with life on them. Do we, are we different-looking than the other children that you have on other planets? Do they look anything at all like us?

  • Humans on other worlds)

Michael: Well, yes, my daughter: some do and some don’t. If you want to study this question, the most comprehensive dealing with this subject in all your world literature is in the Urantia Book where it talks about all the different kinds of what are essentially human beings like yourself, but come in many, many varieties, physically. That is the most comprehensive way to look at this. The book does make a general statement that they are for the most part erect bipeds. But then that can lead you into all kind of Star Trek types of beings. Yet even that science fiction series does capture a kind of essence-of-humanity that does exist whether you’re human or Klingon, or all those other varieties.

That chapter in the Urantia Book gives you a good sense of the one, the two, and the three-brained types, even the most radical variety of human beings developed to live on planets with no atmosphere--if you can imagine that--the non-breathers: on and on. On a question like this I hardly know where to begin or stop. Yes, there are so many, many planets on which your essential type of human being is quite common. It’s a pattern that even Mother Spirit and I derived from the inner universe of Havona. As it states in the Urantia Book, all the various types of human beings out here in time and space have their antecedents. And, as you know, Mother Spirit and I decide on the plans that our Life Carriers come up with in their laboratories, and we are in very close contact with the Trinity for those beings we promote. So, yes, you have a lot of cousins out there, and you will be rubbing elbows with most of them in your Local System when you reawaken on the mansion worlds. They will be your immediate compatriots--another big surprise, believe me.

Ufology, Reflectivity

Student: Will we ever get to a place in technology where we can actually go and visit other planets that are able to sustain life on them, or is that something that is not allowed right now?

Michael: Yes, the last is correct here. There is no technology in existence that allows living physical beings to use what I guess you’d call a kind of transport machine, one that allows a physical being to be disassembled right down to the molecular level, and then reassembled somewhere else.

First of all, my daughter, it’s not necessary. Keep in mind that, except for a very, very few planets, of which, unfortunately, yours is one, they have something called Universal Reflectivity where there’s an enormous amount of information sent and received. You can think of it somewhat like your television, but even more where now, with your computers, you can actually see and talk with each other. There are mechanisms like this where peoples are so attuned to the spiritual realm that Universal Reflectivity is just part of the ordinary life on their planets. And so in one way it doesn’t occur to them that they actually need to be physically disassembled and sent through time and space to be reassembled somewhere else. In one way it doesn’t happen because it’s not necessary.

Student: Okay. Thank you.

Michael: And again, my daughter, keep in mind that right within you spirit communicates with spirit. You have three great spiritual presences right within you that, if you are open to them, can actually--your Father fragment can give you actual thoughts with which to deal with and enjoy your present situation. You yourself are a spiritual being, and you do have this possibility of spiritual contact.

Student: Okay. Thank you.

Michael: And be in my peace. Hopefully, you can actually feel this.

Student: I do.

Student: Yes--Michael?

Michael: Yes.

Teacher Contact, Communication

Student: Yes. I had a question in that, in order to communicate with other spirits--or spirits that are supposedly assigned to us or near us--does the Thought Adjuster have to okay that in order for any contact to be established?

(Thought Adjuster control)

Michael: Yes, my son, let me say: yes and no. (laughter) Yes in so far as there is agreement. In other words, there’s no conflict between your Thought Adjuster and my presence within you, and Mother Spirit’s presence within you. The only way you can conceive of this is as a kind of absolute unity, and yet this unity is a natural intrinsic quality that is not enforced in any way. Think of all we’ve talked about God actually giving you freedom to be yourselves, even to disregard his presence as much as you want. Spirits don’t need his permission, in a sense; it’s that all spirits are in accord with his fundamental nature in order to be effective this way.

As you know there have been rebel spirits on your world, and even these were subservient to a person’s own will. Their being bereft not of his permission but of his nature, people still had control over them. So in this sense spiritual beings do not need his permission. They are already enough of his nature that the question doesn’t arise. Does that make sense to you?

Student: Yes, it does in a way. So it’s ourselves that actually have more . . . What else do we have to do, so to speak, to make contact, or is it that we’re not that far advanced yet, or, you know, spiritually attuned? I still have trouble grasping that concept.

Michael: Yes. It’s a little bit of that--a question of maturity, which sometimes means running around and trying everything else until you finally find the thing that works. The most common way, the most universal way among people is prayer, where you are actually asking--you’re very self-consciously right within yourself, opening yourself and asking--what you really don’t know, what you really need help on.

As I’ve taught on so many times, part of the difficulty can be that when you ask a question of God within you, your very next thought can be the answer. Because it’s so instantaneous, and perhaps out of your normal realm of what we call a “bubble of familiarity,” it’s just as instantly disregarded.

Stillness, Journaling

So on this, my son, you have to bring yourself to the point of almost knowing what you don’t know. In other words, when you’re in a genuine quandary, we say one of the most sincere prayers is, “Dear God, what do I do next? I mean: I’m going to sit down; I’m going to sit here in stillness until I get a really firm sense, a real firm feeling of what your answer is, and the best thing to do next.” So that’s one way.

Student: Right. And a stillness problem is that, like they say, to quiet your mind and, you know, be totally relaxed and put your mind into a state of total clarity, or concentrate on one thing; that it stills your mind. But the hardest thing is, that’s the trouble I have. No matter how hard I try to concentrate on quieting my mind, it still randomly fires off on so many different things at a time. I guess I just need more practice then.

  • Being still, highly consciously, and still thinking

Michael: Yes, and also, my son, why do you immediately assume that what you are experiencing is in some way doing it wrong? In attempting to be still you do run into a paradox that meditators from the very beginning--in all religions and philosophies of the world--have run into: there’s no way you can make yourself be still.

I would offer the technique, if you will: first of all set aside so much time. It might seem the thing’s arbitrary--maybe ten minutes to begin with, and then maybe twenty minutes. But what you’re doing is disconnecting yourself from a certain response--“I’m going to sit in this chair and be still until I get a certain thing happening, until I feel peaceful, or until my mind is a blank”--whatever, however you conceive of stillness. This can lead again to this paradox: you get super busy trying to be not-busy, trying to be still.

Student: Right.

Michael: It’s better just to have the courage and determination that you’re going to sit there for twenty minutes, right?--and simply observe what’s happening. This is genuine stillness. You are just observing whatever. You are allowing to come into your mind whatever wants to.

Now something that I often recommend, especially when you begin, is taking notes. Always have a notepad and a pencil standing by because you can have wonderful things come into your mind--solutions, ways of looking at things--and you can be so anxious about losing that insight that it will disturb you for the next five minutes. You’ll be trying to hang on to that and stop the flow of all the other things coming in. So keep a little note pad there, and when these marvelous things occur to you, jot them down. And then let them go. You can look at them later. Reopen your mind to whatever wants to suggest itself. For some folks that’s even a little bit scary.

Student: Okay. Thank you. I’m going to try that as a constant routine. I seem to do certain things for so long and then I feel like nothing’s happening. I’ll change to a different routine and try something different.

Michael: Well, you could even wonder: what is the origin then? Is it coming from you, or is it coming from some spiritual presence within you that wants to suggest this? In other words, what I’m saying is, it’s not something you have to come up with. Your whole focus can be just experiencing what comes next and getting beyond any kind of previous notions. Now this takes a while, but getting beyond your own notions coming out of your past as to what’s valuable or not, what’s good or not, what’s useful or not; that’s still the past, right, this judgment?

So in one way, my son, in stillness you’re practicing being open to whatever happens. Yet that is an ability, though. This is an ability you have to cultivate and grow, of being open to what’s happening--whatever it is. What could be more valuable to get through life, right?

Student: I’m getting it. (laughter)

Michael: Well, this is how you get beyond yourself by just being yourself and opening up to something new that, who knows—right?--it could be coming from your Father presence. It could be Mother Spirit augmenting part of your understanding. Or all of the above.

Student: I think Monjoronson has said that the most problems we’re going to have is with our own selves.

Michael: Right. This is where it helps to have a specific amount of time. Also we usually recommend the morning, as one of the first things you do when you get up. Just be still for a while and see where you are, not yesterday, not last night: where are you now, today? Allow whatever wants to, to come up that you might be repressing. You might have a whole backlog. You might be at a point in your life where you have a whole backlog of things to reflect on. So you’re behind in your reflection. But as one of your philosophers said, “A life without reflection is not worth living.” So allow that to happen.

Student: Okay. Thank you very much, Michael.

Michael: And enjoy.

Student: I’ll definitely try it.

Michael: There’s that wonderful poet’s line: “Therein you find yourself more truly, and more strange.” It takes a nerve to open up to yourself; and be in my peace.

Student: Thank you.

Student: That was fantastic. I have to jump in here because I’ve always had the problem of being still, or meditating, or stopping thoughts from coming. I’m resigned to the fact that with me, it’s impossible. So that approach that you explained, I’ve been practicing for some time to the extent that my dreams are now so dynamic it’s as if I’m having another existence when I’m asleep. It has now flowed over to my times of being awake. Once I’m quiet I start to go into a dream state of experiencing things that are beyond the realm of the dreaming. It is so dynamic, sometimes I wonder who controls the will of the people or personalities in my dreams. That is the question I would have answered, if you could.

  • Dreams—asleep and awake

Michael: Keep in mind, my son, that as the Urantia Book states, dreams can have such a wide range of expression. Your dreams can actually have, sometimes, practical purpose. Your dreams can be working out problems in your waking life. At the same time they can be filled with the most fantastic type of images and meanings and things. This is something you have to; shall we say you don’t have to, but it’s very good: during your waking hours reflect on them and decide. This calls for you to decide, in your waking hours. You yourself have to decide what they mean. I don’t think it helps much as when, during Freudian times and Freudian analysis, there was such a concentration on dream interpretation and analysis that, I think, did more harm than good because it was just promulgating a lot of generalities.

When you wake up, and in your meditation--in your stillness, you may find it’s intrinsically valuable for you to reflect on your dreams. Because you yourself have to answer these questions. This is within the realm of your freedom. This is within the realm of you deciding what is the meaning and the value of things. Because, like I say, dreams run the whole gambit of being good critical information for you, to just phantasmagoria, just the most fantastic stream of images and things like that. So it’s up to you. You yourself have to decide what things mean. I’m sorry if this dumps it right back in your lap, but that is where it is.

Student: Well, it is certainly a fascinating exchange to feel the imagery, and sometimes I wonder if my Adjuster is trying to bring something into my consciousness by the use of this technique. So I do pay a lot of attention to it, and I do hope it continues.

Michael: Well, first, yes--in terms of your Thought Adjuster, especially in terms of the symbolism in your dreams. In other words, it’s when you realize that this dream you’re reflecting on has a certain feeling to it that seems to be so much greater than simply what the action itself is. This is your internal sense of symbolism, of what this means. Often this is the case by which your Thought Adjuster does convey meanings to you which are beyond the surface.

You get this by feeling. As you know, in a dream you can be terribly filled with fear with no apparent reason for it. You can be filled with joy and delight with no apparent reason for it. It’s like they’re independent of what’s happening. But this is the way the symbolism is conveying value to you.

So yes, by all means reflect on this. Keep in mind, my son, that it’s for your waking life and for your ability and your need to decide these things. This is what interprets value for you. What are your values today? Do you see how this is applicable?

Student: Yes. The experiences are great.

Michael: Well, good! (laughter) That right there is your own evaluation of value. You know what these mean to you. And so long as your dreams don’t interfere with or become a substitute for your waking moments, they’re wonderful to explore and enjoy.

Student: Amen.

  • Michael: thank you for attending, and giving us your attention

Michael: My children, it’s getting kind-of late now in this session, so if there are no further questions or comments, let me wrap up by thanking you all. It does my heart good to feel your affection--the love and the respect you give Mother Spirit and me. It is our most sincere desire to reflect it right back to you. It’s by way of us, by way of our reflection, if you will--our valuing you, you are able to feel this value, this joy, this appreciation of your own life, which is essentially and fundamentally God’s gift.

It is he who created your very essence, a unique essence that will be yours--you will be yours--to the very degree that you can raise your consciousness to this level. And then beyond that, to be not only self-aware, to be not only consciously seeking to feed your soul with what is really fun and joyous and of meaning; but then, once you feel this in yourself and experience this in yourself, go that next step and be able to see it in all those around you. It’s to realize that yes!--every single one of them is the same kind of being, whether they are conscious of it or not. They are there in their completeness. Again, whether they, or whether you realize yourself to be complete, to have the faith that in our sight, and in God’s sight, you are! Moment by moment you totally are complete, even though it might take a lot of stillness to slowly catch up with yourself and be totally complete for yourself.

That’s an ability you have to slowly earn. But the delight is, then, you can see it in everyone else. One of your great philosophers said, “To the enlightened man all others are enlightened.” And this is the greatest reward of all, is it not, all these others around you?

So we thank our Father. We thank our Father for having such an infinity of being that he can create an infinity of personal beings that we will spend an eternity getting to know, getting to share our lives with. So we thank you, Father. And Mother Spirit and I thank you here tonight for coming to us and opening yourselves so wonderfully to us. We bid you good evening. Mother Spirit sends her love and I bid you, be in my peace.
